BONES

This comfortable, well-worn, beat-up book contains a group of poems about lost childhood and early adolescence accompanied by delicately haunting drawings by Jeff Nakahara. These poems take place in elementary school classrooms, high-school locker rooms, and tween bedrooms where there’s nothing to save you but snapped towels and sea monkeys.

50 copies of this chapbook were printed at Smashed Penny Press while the goose was getting fat in 1994. The typeface is Centaur and the paper is Mohawk. The soft-cover is handmade paper and contains a pair of the author’s shredded Levis, jeans he wore as long as they fit through his teen years. The cover illustration is pressed into the soft, denim paper without ink.
